Is POEM going to be taking part in CASP 9 this year?
If so, when might we start to see the first CASP WUs?

Hellow,

as far as I (non-team member) know, they/we take part on CASP9.

They released a timetable on the CASP9-page, which says: First real WUs not earlier than May 3.

Greetingstings,

Arne

I heard that, too. If so, I will dedicate all my resources to POEM at May 1st. Hope you all do the same ;-)

Hi everybody,

yes - we will take part in CASP9. But although the organizers said that first workunits will be released from may 3 onwards, don't expect too many targets just then.

Experience of the last CASP showed, that computing power is needed especially during the final CASP stages in June -> July.

Thanks for your support,
Timo

How come Rosetta has 4M WUs ready to go already?
http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=5308

Do they take part in more aspects of CASP than POEM does?

Hi. J Langley.

I don't believe that the amount of tasks they have backed up on

Rosetta has much to do with CASP9, more like a lack of computers.

IMHO.

nevertheless it would be a good idea to inform us as soon as the first CASP-tasks are ready to crunch here.

Hi everybody,

We will definitely inform everybody once we got CASP workunits. Although CASP9 should already start on the 3rd of May, we think that the workunits related to CASP will not stock up until at least the middle of May.

Have a nice weekend,
Timo

Because the admins here aren't as active as those at Rosetta (sadly).

If I take a look at my clients, less than 1/10 are CASP_WUs; so, how long are our machines helpfull for CASP 9 ?

So, any update on how POEM did at CASP9?
(I believe the results were reviewed in early December.)

Hi there.

I am a PhD Student and also a project member of POEM and joined in February 2010. So participation in casp 9 was one of my first projects in this group.

For everyone who is interested, the results of CASP 9 are available at:

http://predictioncenter.org/casp9/index.cgi

Obviously our Performance was somewhat, well, disappointing.

I and another project member are analysing the published data atm to see exactly where what went wrong.

I talked with Timo and we are going to post some of the findings here or in a news article next week or the one after, because we are busy with some more urgent stuff right now.

However we would like to thank everyone again for their participation and sorry for the somewhat dissapointing results!

Martin

It's good to know progress is being made, even if it is only figuring out what not to do. ;-)
