The POEM++ OpenCL project 'gpucrystal' is going to be finalized soon. In other words no more work units will be created, and as soon as the circulating jobs are finished, the queue will run dry.

We are currently working on a follow-up project, which will start in January 2014, accompanied by a new POEM release.

Thank you all for contributing your GPU power to this project. Please use this POEM OpenCL rest period to support other great projects in the BOINC network.
I'm looking forward to see your GPU back at POEM next year.

POEM++ OpenCL Ankündigung

Hello Thomas!

Is it possible to make any kind of unit counter for the last OpenCL units? Just to understand how many left to crunch. Holydays are closer so it's significant to load the machines and be sure that they will work through all the Christmas, but helping POEM is also important so we want to catch the wawe rather have early switch to other projects.

With best regards

Will the Poem++ CPU work continue or is it also coming to an end?

Basically there is just the number of jobs left you can see here.
So you will definitely have to change your GPU project before Christmas.

POEM++ CPU jobs will continue as usual, there's no need to switch projects if you don't want to.

I'm hoping, with a new project starting with GPU work, the app for it is being designed to treat more then 1 type of WU, or whatever it was. So that GPU work will be a bit more abundant going forward?

If it's possible to get more into the GPUs, and not just on the CPU app, this would be great, wrt the WU availability situation, along with what people are/aren't crunching as much...

Can you already provide any further details about the new GPU app? What it does, what it requires etc.? Do you need help with performance tuning? We could provide access to quite some different hardware in an open or closed beta.

Hello,

It has been three weeks since the announcement regarding the GPU side of the project and the planned new release in January.

Is it possible to get something of a status update?

It seems we're halfway (in time) from the announcement of the end of the previous GPU project, to the new release, but I suspect we're pretty familiar with the timing issues that new projects encounter and so, at this point, it seems like a good thing to let us know the good (or bad) news regarding project status.

Thanks.

Hello,

Happy New Year!

It has been four weeks since the announcement regarding the GPU side of the project and the planned new release in January. It is now January.

Is it possible to get something of a status update?

I suspect people are quite familiar with the timing issues that project change overs encounter and so, at this point, it seems like a good thing to let us know the good (or bad) news regarding project status.

I'd note that since the announcement over a month ago, there has been no follow up notice regarding status. I'm sure folks have shifted GPU processing elsewhere during the interim, but I suspect many would like to return and help out here.

Thanks.

I think that's what we're all wondering now, given it's January and all... A status update, would be nice...

tbh, given that it's almost a month since the last announcement, and that it is January, a status update would be nice, wrt how it's all going. And as some have mentioned if some beta testing would help progress things along, I'm sure there are hungry GPUs that would be willing to assist in crunching test units...

Hi everybody,

sorry for the late feedback. I had to talk to a few people to get the current status.

We are currently working on a MOF simulation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_organic_framework) regarding drug distribution in the human body. This project will run on GPUs, and we are confident to release it at the end of this month.

I'm also going to setup a BOINC test server which will be used to distribute these jobs to volunteer testers before the release.

Best regards
Thomas
